Patients beginning to mobilize during the post-operative
phase of hip replacement surgery often have problems
when moving from the sitting position to a standing
one, called the Sit to Stand Maneuver. Most Orthopedic
physicians are cautious about patient self-ambulation,
since often their goal is to maintain hip flexion
below 90 degrees.
SunMed Medical Systems’ Hip Chair line, available
in both standard and bariatric models, is designed
to reduce the patient effort, and staff risk associated
with moving from a “sitting” position
to a “standing” position.
This is NOT a lift chair! Rather, it is designed
to promote patient self-reliance, and reduce the
risk of staff injuries in assisting patients to
stand. These units are available as rental units
or as a purchased item.
