Low Bed

For people 65-84 years old, falls are the second leading cause of injury-related death. For people 85 years and older, falls are the leading cause of injury-related death.

While preventing falls is not an easy task for anyone, utilizing low beds for elderly patients that are at risk of climbing or falling out of bed is one of the best methods available. Combined with the proper caregiver training, the right low bed and other safety products can help to accomplish your goal of fall prevention. SunMed Medical Systems offers both homecare and institutional styles of low beds to meet your patient’s needs.

Our low beds are fully electric, and lower to just 6 ¾ inches to the floor, but can be raised to 33 inches. Beds available to handle up to 500 pound patients. The side rail configurations help to prevent patient entanglement and entrapment as well.

  Enclosed Bed Systems

An Enclosed Bed System, which can come with an integrated bed frame, or fit over most standard hospital and homecare bed frames, provide a safe, patient friendly, easy to use, clinically proven and cost-effective alternative to caring for a patient that is subject to falling, wandering, confusion, delirium, aggression or seizures.

Typically these are patients that have Alzheimer’s, dementia, Huntington’s, Cerebral Palsy, Rhett’s Syndrome, Parkinson’s, Strokes and Traumatic Brain Injuries. Zippers sewn into the canopy provide access to the patient on all four sides.
By creating a more secure, manageable environment, similar to a child’s crib, the patient becomes much less disturbed. Freeing the patient from other forms of restraints, such as tie downs, vests and drugs enables them to vent their restlessness with little or no danger of inflicting injury on themselves or others.
